Duramax crank no start

Jan 15, 2010 · Drove 5 miles, had dinner, came out, crank but no start. Held throttle down and still no start. Checked prime, fuel squirted out of vent when loosened. Cranked and held throttle down, started after about 10 seconds. Very slight surging. Got home and shut off. Immediately tried to start, cranked about 2 seconds and started but not like it ....

First and MOST IMPORTANT- UNPLUG THE GLOW PLUG AND INTAKE HEATER CONTROL CONNECTOR. Then take the air filter out, and with your helper, have them crank the engine. Spray only a 0.5 second spray into the housing, again only when cranking. See what happens. If nothing, try a 1 second spray, but no more.I had some problems with my 03 LB7 about 3 months ago. Sounds like its loosing communication with crank sensor. IIRC and if I remember correctly, if the 3 bolts on the reluctor gear loosen and fall out into the oil pan, your truck will have this symtom.
