Has anyone tried the 270 grain ELDX out of a 338 edge? My son threw a load together to start with and it shot 2943 FPS out of a proof barrel. He is going to push it up and see how it shoots and where top end is. Attached is a 3 shot group for the first try that was shot off a bipod. The 338 lapua compared to the 338 edge are pretty close velocity wise. In your situation I'd just go 338 edge and get a new barrel. The 338 edge +p is a defensive edge only option. If I was starting new I'd go 338 lapua, the brass is available and better. Once again like everyone else has mention it would be the brass that would sway me this direction. Good brass is important and lapua is hard to beat.
