Hey Cat Man,I have a Cat c15 serial prefix SDP. Jake brake quit working and not able to bump up to high idle. Drove the truck a few miles and now white smoke coming out exhaust.

I have my jake Brake book, only talks about problems with the Jake Brake not working. I have never wrenched on a CAT, just Detroits. Any suggestions would be great. SW Ohio. quick check would be to run a hot wire to the valve covers and see if it is working mechanically, if so then it is the more common wiring problem, lots of switches to go thru to work, could possibly be clutch switch, idle speed switch, oil ..., I have removed the extra wiring shown on the diagram so all you see is the engine brake wiring. The wire numbered 22-A-.8 is the first wire in teh circuit, it goes from the fuse to the jake switch and the relays. I drove a C-15 in a KW while mine was in the shop 3 weeks ago and the jakes on that were weak they made all the right sounds but just weak. Over here CAT jakes arent even on the same page as ISX jakes thats why I have a brakesaver as well combined with jakes they will blow away a ISX easy down hill.
