Sep 23, 2009 · Urgently need to bypass fuel cutoff solenoid. I have an early '94 F-700 Ford ex- Ryder moving truck that came from the factory with a 12 valve Cummins with the "Good" inline pump. It's been sitting for about three years and I finally got it running last night only to have the fuel cutoff solenoid literally go up in smoke and kill the engine.

Deleted the mechanical fuel pump, ran all new fuel lines, and installed a new fuel selector valve and electric fuel pump. The truck fired right up, hiccuped a few times, then ran normal. The real test will be to let it sit for a few days and see if it will restart. Put 12v on the white wire,, ground on either of the 2 and PUSH IN on the rod.. if it holds.. put the - on the other and put slight pressure on the rod and see if it snaps in..When energized, that solenoid holds the throttle in the proper location for your truck to idle. When you turn off the key, the solenoid de-energizes allowing the throttle to essentially starve the engine for fuel. That combined with cutting the power to the coil is how the truck shuts off.
