Have a new 1301. Been a Benelli user for years with a M2 & M4. The M2 was good but not always 100% reliable with different loads,not ofen,but sometimes wouldn't cycle loads. The M4 was utterly reliable,good ergo's,soft shooting and easy to clean. Sold it and made lots of money cause of the panic buying..

I would take the 1301. The recoil is considerably less. It has the fastest cyclic rate. Also the controls, are in my opinion exactly where they should be and the trigger pull is way better. With that said the 1301 is a very well built, very well assembled gun and I can't find anyplace that they left anything lose or not centered properly. The M4 has a lot of metal parts that Beretta chose to sub plastic instead. Semi-automatic guns only require that the shooter pulls the trigge r between shots. A pump-action requires a bit more manipulation than that. That pump requires more work than a semi-auto. Semi-autos are often easier to handle under stress due to their design.
